I created “Emmaus” after a spiritual retreat I attended called “A Walk to Emmaus”. On the retreat, I learned about grace and the love of God, which at the time was a foreign concept to me. God’s love and grace seemed to belong to others, but not to me. This painting portrays my own personal struggle that weekend of accepting and receiving Christ’s love and forgiveness. The painting shows the battle in the unseen over me as well as all the people in the seen who prayed for me. In the center, is Christ Himself coming in power on my behalf as I surrendered to Him and finally received His love and mercy. Jesus loves us all, and His voice has been ringing throughout eternity calling our names to come follow Him. May we all receive His invitation of great and merciful love.
